SUMMARY OF POSITION ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Technical Project Manager is accountable for the research, planning, design and administration of building projects for clients. Technical aspects of the position also include specific tasks related to support for co-workers and providing reviews as needed for key focus areas. Working with the Principal/Director in charge, Project Architect, and/or Interior Designer and functioning as the main client contact point at times and support role during other times, the Technical Project Manager will consult with clients and coordinate with the design team to ensure timely and profitable completion of all projects. A college degree, and applicable experience are required for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

Design and Development

  • Creates programming and architectural/interiors assignments after receiving general instructions and project scope from the Director of Architecture, Director of Interior Design, and client
  • Consults with client/interiors programming team to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, materials and colors related to the interior scope of work.
  • Shall coordinate with the interior design team on furniture and equipment, and integrate required elements into unified conceptual design for client review and approval
  • Develops project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment
  • Accountable for the SD/DD/CD phase plans of project and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval. Also coordinates with engineers and provides design review of plans submitted
  • Accountable for the activities of the team engaged in design and preparation of drawings
  • Accountable for the preparation of constructible and permit ready drawings for clients and building contractors
  • Actively seeks new sustainable design & construction methods including, materials related to projects, and client presentation techniques

Project Management

  • Leads production of Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Document phases; oversees construction phases of project
  • Supervises and coordinates with project team and individuals assigned to marketing, client communication, drafting and production, and construction management
  • Accountable for coordinating transmittal of bid and permit plan sets to contractor and client
  • Coordinates with project team and individuals assigned to marketing, client communication, drafting and production, and construction management as needed
  • Accountable for timely reviews and responses of RFI’s and construction submittals
  • Accountable for production of construction documents including written specifications in alignment with code
  • Coordinates and maintains project schedules; accountable for task assignment and completion
  • Meets with clients, coordinates with consultants; meets and maintains relationships with suppliers/vendors
  • Reviews documents for quality control evaluations at Project Manager level, accountable for Principal/Director review scheduling
  • Key focus areas include: Door/Window schedules/hardware, energy modeling software integration, MEP coordination and relationships, and sustainability

CD Phase and CA Phase Tasks

  • Accountable for coordination with structural and MEP engineers, reviews entire drawing set for quality control evaluations as part of the CD and CA phase tasks
  • Works with exterior designer to coordinate building shell architectural features and detailing, accountable for coordination on any required VE revisions that alter the building shell and interiors
  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction
  • Ensures close-out documentation and project archives are completed

SUPERVISION

  • Received: The Director of Architecture and Director of Interior Design will provide general supervision and specify goals and areas of special concentration. The incumbent will act independently and make autonomous decisions under the context of broad clearly defined goals and objectives in the performance of the duties. The incumbent will provide reports and updates on projects as requested. Progress will be evaluated periodically, in addition to annual review. The direct supervisor to this position is the Director of Architecture, however this can change with notice as needed to balance the direct reports of the Directors.
  • Exercised: Graduate Architect, Interns to include daily project supervision, skills training, and intern development. This also includes quarterly and annual review meetings and meeting preparation.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited university/college
  • 3 year’s relevant experience with demonstrated expertise; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Revit operator

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design, or Project Management Certification/Training
  • LEED GA, LEED AP and/or WELL AP Designation
  • 5+ years progressive experience in commercial architectural design, construction admin, and project management
  • Computer Skills and Architectural Software Expertise: AutoCAD, Sketchup, advanced Revit/BIM required (training provided), Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office suite

  • Leads, maintains, and trains team members on the exterior design process outlined in the Adventure Guide
