The design director has the creativity and versatility to set the tone of a project with innovative design thinking. They possess the technical know-how to pave the way forward to a well-built, beautifully detailed building that exceeds client expectations. With supercharged design skills and excellence in technical, code, and sustainable design practices, the senior designer leads projects from concept through final construction documentation. the design director is an expert in Revit and bim project delivery.

The right candidate understands the importance of exceptional client and consultant relationships, keeps projects running smoothly, and safeguards our clients’ financial investment as if it were their own. A great design director can overlay the broader project vision with the nitty-gritty: schedule, budget, site constraints, code requirements, and contract parameters. They understand the value of mentoring junior staff, giving voice to novel ideas, and delegating when appropriate, always with the understanding that every contribution to the project must meet brick’s rigorous standards for quality.   • Bachelor’s degree in architecture (m.arch preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in an architecture office (internships not counted).
  • Working toward an architect’s license in the state of california.
  • Excellent technical skills working in revit to produce documents is a must. autocad and other 3d modeling software (sketchup/rhino/3d max) desired. lumion a plus.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and direct an in-house team, inspiring each individual’s best efforts.
  • Exceptional design, technical detailing, coordination, rendering, and presentation skills.
  • Experience contributing to successful projects from concept through design detailing, code compliance, final documentation and construction administration.
  • Ability to manage multiple aspects of client, team and project delivery, including scope, scheduling, budget, and coordination with structural, mep, lighting, av, landscape and civil consultants.
  • Ability to lead project teams and ensure efficient execution of all phases of work and an exceptional client experience.
  • Familiarity with project proposal writing (scope, fee, schedule).
  • Fluency with adobe creative suite.
  • Proficiency in microsoft office suite and bluebeam revu.
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
  • Team oriented. desire to work in a collaborative environment with design team, clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Candidates must have unrestricted authorization to work in the u.s.
