The Director of Operations is responsible for the factory operations of our company. Using the Company’s robotically assisted production facility located in Delta, BC, and future facilities in other go to markets, you and your team will manufacture mass timber building products built to specifications provided from an in-house parametric digital design platform. You will manage all people, systems, and processes required to deliver products to our customers. You must be capable of managing production teams, the production schedule, and working with suppliers while attaining high levels of efficiency and quality. You will have a background in manufacturing operations analysis and production management of a large assembly factory operation. The ideal candidate must be competent and able to plan many kinds of operational activities. He/She/They must be an excellent leader who can discover the most efficient ways to run the business.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with CEO/CTO/CFO/COO to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
  • Manage production teams to deliver products from a variety of manufacturing cells
  • Analyze ERP data and other metrics to find trends and issues
  • Manage worldwide shipping and receiving logistics
  • Develop and update company policies and procedures and ensure they are followed
  • Manage a sustainable and cost-effective materials supply chain
  • Coordinate material and resource allocations
  • Reduce costs and optimize manufacturing workflows
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress
  • Monitor employee production, satisfaction, and safety
  • Set team and individual objectives and measure for success
  • Quality Assurance / Quality Control 
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Ensure that the factory runs within established safety protocols and regulations

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. manufacturing, supply chain, finance, HR, customer service etc.)
  • 10+ years as Manager or Director of Operations
  • BSc/BA degree in a relevant field
  • Experience managing people and teams
  • Experience with ERP and CRM systems
  • Experience with developing budgets and writing business plans
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and collaborators
  • Ability to analyze a supply chain and manage risks
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities with ability to communicate up and down
  • Experience working in an ISO environment
  • Ability to identify weak spots in a process to improve efficiency
  • Great planning and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced rapidly-changing technology environment

  • A motivated team player that will thrive in an organizationally young entrepreneurial environment
  • Intellectually curious and interested in learning about the digital manufacturing processes

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s in supply chain or MBA
  • Experience in sustainable production techniques
  • Experience with wood construction methods
  • Experience with Epicor ERP
  • Knowledge of off-site building manufacturing techniques
